John "Buck" Chapoton is a partner of Brown Advisory and heads its Washington, D.C. office.  He is a nationally recognized tax expert and works closely with many of the firm’s high net worth and institutional clients.  Prior to joining Brown Advisory, Mr. Chapoton was a partner of Vinson & Elkins, a Houston-based law firm whose Washington office he managed for 16 years.  He also served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax Policy under President Reagan.  His experience in tax issues has prepared him well for providing valuable strategic advice to high net worth clients who face complex decisions with regard to structuring and managing their assets.
