At the heart of Brown Advisory’s culture lies a deep belief in commitment to community service. Our partners, directors and employees are engaged in the civic and cultural life of their communities, serving in volunteer and board leadership positions with respect to a number of charitable organizations. In addition to the individual commitment of our people, the firm itself contributes to the community through its support of a number of worthy non-profit causes and its program of matching employee support of charitable events in which they are active.

Holabird Academy

In 2007, Brown Advisory began a partnership with Holabird Academy, an elementary school in the O’Donnell Heights neighborhood in Baltimore City. Holabird is a small school with big needs, and while our partnership is still in its early stages, we already have had fundraisers and made donations of computers, furniture and office equipment. We plan to help spruce up the school, provide a playground and athletic equipment, and help the school initiate music and arts programs.

We are very excited about this partnership and have raised over $25,000 in monetary donations in addition to time donated to paint classrooms, deliver lunches and generally clean up the school. We believe that, as a firm, such concentrated investments of Brown Advisory’s energy and capital can be a force for meaningful change—and we have watched with pride as test scores at the school have improved during our partnership.

William Paca Elementary School

Brown Advisory partnered with William Paca School, an elementary school close to our headquarters in the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore, from 2003 until 2007. This special relationship with the staff and students was particularly rewarding. The projects that Brown Advisory employees undertook at the William Paca School included:

Providing copies of weekly news magazines for all students
Upgrading the music department with a donated piano and audio equipment as well as a grant of $10,000 for musical instruments and band uniforms
Building and stocking a school store, which is now self-supporting
Providing trophies each year for the school's spelling, geography and math bees
Facilitating a donation of flag football uniforms and equipment from the Baltimore Ravens.
Subsidizing school uniforms (different colored shirts for each grade level).
Organizing and supporting a new a summer enrichment program and boys’ and girls’ after-school programs.

Brown Advisory takes the confidentiality of your personal information and the privacy of your account very seriously. Our commitment to safeguard your personal information goes beyond our legal obligation to process your transactions accurately and securely. Whether we serve you online, in person, on the telephone or by mail, the principles that guide the way in which we conduct business are built upon the core values of trust and integrity.

Specialist US equities manager Brown Advisory has seen its US Equity Value Ucits III vehicle reach $100m in assets under management. Run by Richard Bernstein, the US Equity Value Ucits fund was launched under the group’s Dublin umbrella in February 2006 and mirrors the manager’s existing concentrated long-only strategy, which has $1.1bn of assets. Brown Advisory London office director Logie Fitzwilliams says the strategy has proved attractive in the European market this year. “We reached our three-year track record in February, launched a sterling-hedged share class in October, and have seen impressive inflows, not just from the UK but also from institutions in Scandinavia, Spain and Switzerland,” he says. Iveagh Private Investment House partner and head of portfolio management Chris Wyllie backs Bernstein’s approach and Brown’s strong research platform. “Together, these have delivered an outstanding long-term track record which can be replicated in the future,” Wyllie adds. “It is a good example of what we look for in a fund.” The milestone follows the recent launch to the European market of Brown’s US Equity Growth.
