Brown Advisory strengthens International Advisory Board with three new appointments
LONDON, 30th November 2023 – Brown Advisory, an independent and privately held global investment management firm that oversees more than $135 billion in client assets, has made three new senior appointments to its International Advisory Board. Sian Westerman, Jasmine Whitbread and Sir Robin Niblett bring considerable board-level, corporate, investment, governance and multi-national business experience to the firm.
Sian Westerman brings extensive experience as an investment banker at Rothschild & Co, where she spent a considerable part of her career advising corporates and private equity on mergers, acquisitions and disposals. She remains a Senior Adviser at Rothschild & Co, helping to further the objectives of worldwide clients in the UK and APAC countries. Sian was a trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts for a ten-year term ending in September 2023 and continues to serve on their corporate advisory board. She is also a trustee of the Barbican Centre Trust, a board member of the British Fashion Council, Chair of Strathberry Holdings Limited and non-executive director of ASC Regenity, the company operating Augustinus Bader, and Fenwick Limited.
Jasmine Whitbread’s career spans a broad range of organisations, from her background in technology marketing in the U.S., to her leadership of global non-profits, to her more recent roles with blue-chip corporate boards. She also has over 20 years’ experience of sustainability-related issues. Jasmine has been CEO of Save the Children and of London First and a non-executive director of BT plc, where she chaired the Digital Impact and Sustainability Committee. Jasmine currently chairs the Governance and Sustainability Committee of Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, is on the board of WPP plc and is Chair of Travis Perkins plc.
Sir Robin Niblett joined the International Advisory Board from Chatham House, a world-leading policy institute, where he was Chief Executive for 15 years. Under his leadership, Chatham House tripled in size, significantly expanding its coverage of international political developments. Sir Robin is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Council on Geopolitics and served as its Chair from 2020-22. He is now a Distinguished Fellow of Chatham House and the Asia Society Policy Institute and a Senior Adviser to the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington DC. He is also Senior Adviser with Hakluyt, the British strategic advisory firm. He brings deep expertise on relations between Europe, U.S. and Asia pertinent to both national governments and private institutions.
At the same time, Brown Advisory would like to recognise and thank Simon de Zoete for his exceptional contributions during his long tenure as an original member of the firm’s International Advisory Board. Simon’s career in the City of London spanned some 35 years; he was Deputy Chairman of Credit Suisse (Europe) having previously been a partner of de Zoete and Bevan. Simon is now stepping down from Brown Advisory’s International Advisory Board having served since its founding in 2015.
