Jay is a partner and senior advisor at Brown Advisory. He focuses on providing strategic, legal, and financial advice to individuals, families, family offices, endowments and foundations. Jay has extensive experience in corporate governance matters and guiding families, executives and institutions through transitions and transactions. Prior to joining the firm in 2023, Jay spent most of his career at Hunton Andrews Kurth where he specialized in M&A and private equity and serving as corporate counsel to family-owned businesses. During his tenure at the firm, Jay served in a number of leadership roles including Managing Partner of the Richmond office, member of the Executive Committee and head of the Corporate team. After leaving Hunton in 2017, Jay worked in a variety of legal and strategic roles for companies ranging in size from Fortune 100 to family-owned start-ups. He currently serves as an independent trustee for a multi-generational family trust.
