John is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Brown Advisory Incorporated, and a founder of CDK Investment Management, which focused on alternative investment advisory solutions. CDK was purchased by Brown in 2013. Prior to founding CDK in 2002, he spent 19 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was a General Partner and served on the firm’s Commitments and Credit Committees. He worked in both the investment banking and capital markets areas in London and New York. John is currently a director of the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation where he chairs the Investment Committee, High Mowing Seeds, Vermont 99 Foods, the South Carolina advisory committee of the Open Space Institute and serves on the executive committee of the Hotchkiss School Investment Committee. In addition, he has served on various other not for profit boards and investment committees including Vanderbilt University, Morristown Memorial Hospital, The Nature Conservancy of NJ (Chairman) and SinoUnited Healthcare. John received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1978 and an MBA with Honors from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 1982.
