Kate Gordon

Kate Gordon is a Senior Advisor at the Paulson Institute, where she provides overall strategy and coordination for the Institute’s climate change, air quality, and sustainable urbanization programs both in the US and China. She is also a nonresident Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University and a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal as one of the paper’s “Energy Experts.” Gordon is a nationally recognized expert on the intersection of clean energy and economic development.

Dune Thorne, CTFA, CWS

Dune is a partner, a member of the Executive Team and serves as head of client experience and head of the Boston office. Dune works closely with family offices and institutions as a long-term thinking partner. Prior to joining Brown Advisory, Dune worked as a portfolio manager at Silver Bridge Advisors. Dune has an MBA from Harvard Business School and has been recognized as one of the top 40 Women in Wealth and as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Truman T. Semans

Truman is a partner and serves as vice chairman of Brown Investment Advisory & Trust Company and a member of its Investment Committee. He joined Alex. Brown in August 1974 as general partner, became member of the executive committee then vice chairman of the board and member of the Executive and Organization Committee. Prior to Alex. Brown & Sons, Truman was president and chairman of Robert Garrett & Sons. He was a founder of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and has dedicated much of his life to environmental conservation efforts across the United States.

Mamie Parker

Dr. Parker is a board member of the Brown Advisory Sustainable Investing Advisory Board. She is also the Founder and CEO of Ma Parker and Associates in the Washington, D. C. area.  She is an efficiency executive coach, facilitator, and public speaker with clients in agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Service, National Wild Turkey Association, Ducks Unlimited and Maryland Department of Labor. Dr. Mamie Parker is the former Assistant Director of Fisheries and Habitat Conservation at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).

Martin S. Kaplan

Martin S. Kaplan is a board member on the Brown Advisory Sustainable Investing Advisory Board. He is a retired partner of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, and has extensive experience advising public and private corporations, non-profit organizations and charitable foundations. Mr. Kaplan spent his entire career at Wilmer Hale in Boston and New York, and its predecessor Hale and Dorr, where he chaired its Corporate Practice. Daniel Esty

Dan Esty is a board member of the Brown Advisory Sustainable Investing Advisory Board. He also is the Hillhouse Professor at Yale University with primary appointments at Yale’s Environment and Law Schools and a secondary appointment at the Yale School of Management. He serves as director of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and on the Advisory Board of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, which he founded in 2007.

Mark Collins

Mark is the director of private equity and a general partner with BrownSavano. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner with Trinity International in Washington, D.C. where he developed emerging market funds and advised US multinationals on international projects. Mark previously served in the International Division of the U.S. Treasury Department and as U.S. Director to the World Bank and International Finance Corporation and was an investment banker in corporate finance with First Boston.

Michael D. Hankin

Mike is a partner, a member of the Executive Team and serves as president and chief executive officer. He is a director of both Brown Advisory Incorporated and Brown Investment Advisory & Trust Company. As chair of the Baltimore Healthy Harbor Project and executive committee member of the Baltimore Waterfront Partnership and Management Authority, he has challenged the city to achieve a goal of making Baltimore’s Inner Harbor swimmable and fishable by 2020.

Karina Funk, CFA

Karina is a partner, portfolio manager of the Brown Advisory Large-Cap Sustainable Growth strategy and head of sustainable investing. Karina joined Brown Advisory in 2009 and has extensive investment experience spanning early-stage ventures to debt and public equities. She was previously an equity research analyst for Winslow Management Co, a principal at Charles River Ventures, and an investment manager at the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust.
