Baltimore, April 14, 2022 — At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Brown Advisory, a global, private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, launched B.Innovative, a collaborative workspace program for purpose-driven startups and investors. Beginning with its office in Baltimore, Maryland and now in development for Austin, Texas, Brown Advisory is dedicating physical and human capital resources to founders and builders in order to catalyze entrepreneurial activity and thought leadership across underserved stakeholders.
Brown Advisory launched the B.Innovative program within its office located in the historic Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore. “B.Innovative | Baltimore” now encompasses 5,000 square feet of office space, offering Maryland-based entrepreneurs full-time work stations and flexible community spaces for professional meetings and team-building offsites. Today, it supports eight startup companies, two venture capital firms (Conscious Venture Fund and RareBreed Ventures) and one ecosystem builder (UpSurge Baltimore). “B.Innovative | Austin” is located in Brown Advisory’s new office space in the Indeed tower and offers 27 workstations.
Mike Hankin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brown Advisory, offered that “B.Innovative extends our firm’s commitment to our local communities. In Baltimore, we’ve partnered with local practitioners to create a program that is complementary to the great work already underway in the city. Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, Conscious Venture Lab, Betamore, Impact Hub and others helped to guide our vision for a space that supports the existing resources in Baltimore’s entrepreneurial community. We are thrilled to bring the model to Austin and collaborate with change-makers across the city. Together, we can unlock new ways to create value and results for people and organizations that are helping to raise the future.”
In the coming years, Brown Advisory hopes to provide flexible-use workspace and wraparound resources to entrepreneurs and community builders in its offices around the world.
Elise Liberto, Partner and Private Equity Portfolio Manager of Brown Advisory, who helps lead the B.Innovative program, said “our firm and venture capital team are excited to support innovators who create and demand inclusive opportunities for multiple stakeholders. Purpose-driven startups are moving the world forward faster, and we’re proud to help change-makers grow.”
Brown Advisory is focused on supporting individuals who are aligned with its purpose to Raise the Future and is excited to expand the B.Innovative initiative to new office locations during 2022 and beyond.
