Alex is a partner and Chief Fiduciary Officer at Brown Advisory. He oversees the firm's three trust companies and is responsible for the delivery of trust administration and private client tax services. As a subject matter expert in trusts, estates, and taxation, Alex collaborates with strategic advisors to provide advice and solutions to help our clients achieve their complex legacy planning objectives through the creative use of trusts.
Prior to joining Brown Advisory, Alex was senior legal counsel and senior fiduciary officer at a large national trust company, and before that he was a partner with Pasternak & Fidis, P.C., in Bethesda, MD, where his practice focused on tax, trusts & estates, and fiduciary litigation.
Alex is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and he is active in leadership within the ABA’s Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section. A frequent presenter on trusts, estate planning, and taxation, Alex has spoken at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, the ABA - RPTE National CLE Conference, the Maryland State Bar Association’s Legal Summit, and the ACTEC Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting.
