Elsa Iovanella is a Sustainable Investing Specialist at Brown Advisory, based in the Boston office. She brings over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry and focuses on the firm’s Private Client, Endowment & Foundations business. Elsa oversees strategy for the Impact Advisory & Investments team, leveraging her expertise in sustainable investing to understand the goals of values-aligned clients and align the firm’s impact and sustainable investing business and investment strategy to support them. She drives growth through thought leadership, client engagement, and strategic business planning, ensuring Brown Advisory remains at the forefront of impact and sustainable investing.

Prior to joining Brown Advisory, Elsa was part of the ESG Management team at Brookfield Asset Management, where she built and implemented a firmwide sustainable investing strategy. Her work included framework alignment (Principles for Responsible Investment, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, International Sustainability Standards Board, Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark), policy implementation (EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, EU Taxonomy Regulation), reporting capabilities, and investor communications. She previously served in an investor relations capacity with a focus on ESG integration for Global Infrastructure Partners and as a senior client services professional at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., managing fundraising, investor onboarding, due diligence, and reporting efforts in both functions.

Elsa began her career at a New York City nonprofit supporting U.S.-based postdoctoral research for Italian scientists and providing free breast cancer screenings for underserved women. She holds a BA in Italian from the College of the Holy Cross.
