Elsa Iovanella is a Sustainable Investing Specialist at Brown Advisory and brings over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry. She advises private clients, endowments, and foundations on mission-driven and values-based investing, partnering across advisory and investment teams to deliver tailored portfolio solutions, impact strategies, and client education across themes including biodiversity, education, health and wellness, financial resilience, and energy innovation.
Through client engagement, strategic business planning, and thought leadership, she helps drive growth and regularly represents the firm in panel discussions and client forums focused on Brown Advisory’s impact and sustainable investing capabilities.
Her career reflects a progression across client service, investor relations, and sustainable investing strategy into leadership in impact and sustainable investing. Before joining Brown Advisory, Elsa served on the Sustainability Management team at Brookfield Asset Management, where she helped institutionalize sustainable investing, built reporting and communication capabilities for investors, translated evolving standards and regulations into practical investment processes and supported clients and stakeholders in understanding the investment landscape. Previously, she held investor relations roles at Global Infrastructure Partners and was a senior client services professional at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., where her responsibilities included fundraising, investor onboarding, due diligence, and reporting.
She began her career at a New York City nonprofit that supports postdoctoral research opportunities in the United States for Italian scientists and provides free breast cancer screenings for underserved women, laying the foundation for the mission-driven perspective she now brings to values-aligned investing.
Elsa graduated with honors in Italian from the College of the Holy Cross and is based in Boston.
