RICHMOND — Brown Advisory, a private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, is pleased to announce that Alexandra “Ali” Bayler, CAIA® has joined the firm as a portfolio manager in its Richmond office.

Ms. Bayler most recently served as managing director at Spider Management Company, the endowment office investing a multi-billion portfolio on behalf of the University of Richmond and a select group of external endowments and foundations. Ms. Bayler also held senior positions at global law and consulting firms, Dickstein Shapiro LLP (Blank Rome LLP) and Troutman Sanders LLP. She began her career as an equity analyst at Wilbanks, Smith & Thomas Asset Management. Ms. Bayler is a graduate of the University of Virginia and earned her M.B.A. at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

At Brown Advisory, Ms. Bayler will work with individuals, families, endowments and foundations to create custom portfolios that align with their long-term goals, needs and risk tolerances. She will help Brown Advisory’s clients navigate financial markets, governance decisions and strategic challenges. Ms. Bayler also brings extensive experience in alternative investments and environmental, social and governance considerations.

Ms. Bayler also serves in several nonprofit leadership roles, including chair of the board of directors at CARITAS, an organization dedicated to helping individuals and families dealing with addiction and homelessness. She has served on the Advisory Boards for Virginia Women in Venture and the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, as well as co-founding Virginia Women in Finance.
