BALTIMORE — Brown Advisory, a global, private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, is excited to announce that Alex Tanouye has joined as a partner and Head of Fiduciary Services. He is based in Washington, D.C.

As Head of Fiduciary Services Alex is responsible for oversight of all trust and fiduciary relationships and for the delivery of fiduciary services and advice to solve our clients' complex legacy planning objectives. “We are so pleased to have Alex on board. He brings nearly 20 years of sophisticated estate planning experience in private practice and as senior legal counsel and regional fiduciary leader for a global trust company,” explained Sandi Moffet, partner and Head of Baltimore Private Client. “With his unique background and skillset, Alex will lead the enhancement and growth of our fiduciary services and collaborate in delivering strategic advice to clients on the planning and administration of trusts and estates.

Alex previously served as Senior Legal Counsel and Senior Fiduciary Officer at The Northern Trust Company where he guided trust advisory teams, participated in the design and implementation of sophisticated plans, and provided internal legal advice on trust, estate, and other fiduciary matters. Prior, Alex was a partner at Pasternak & Fidis, P.C., where his practice focused on estate planning, fiduciary litigation, and tax law.

Alex earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law and his B.A. with Honors from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is author of the ACTEC State Survey on Surviving Spouse's Rights to Share in Deceased Spouse's Estate and has been a featured speaker, panelist and lecturer on a variety of trust, estate and tax law topics at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, the ABA - RPTE National CLE Conference, the ACTEC Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting, the Maryland State Bar Association's Annual Meeting and numerous continuing legal education seminars for the Maryland and D.C. bar associations.
